Neo-soul goddess Jill Scott, like many other have, clearly had a fantastic experience at the Renaissance World Tour. The “The Way” singer took to social media to shower Beyoncè with praises after she attended the Chicago tour stop.
In the video she posted on Instagram right after the show, the soft-spoken singer-songwriter disclosed the honor she felt for getting a chance to see Beyoncè.
“I didn’t get a chance to see Michael Jackson, I didn’t get a chance to see James Brown, I didn’t get a chance to see Tina Turner, but I got a chance to see Beyoncè tonight.”
Scott, who is also playing a show in Chicago this July, told her social fans that the word phenomenal was an understatement when describing the performance. She went on to praise her fellow performer for other parts of the tour that excited her.
“That vocal ability, the charisma, the honesty, sincerity onstage, I am touched,” Scott explained.
Longtime Fans
Jill Scott has been a longtime fan of Queen B. And it is a feeling that is mutual. In the remix of Break My Soul, where Beyoncé sampled Madonna’s “Vogue” Jill Scott was one of the Black female artists Beyoncè gave a shout out. The specific line where Beyoncé shouted out Jill Scott goes, “Jilly from Philly, I Love You Boo.”
During the show Scott attended in Chicago, Beyoncé gave Scott a shoutout while performing the song. “We got Jilly from Philly in the house tonight,” Beyoncè told the crowd “When we get to that part, y’all gotta sing it LOUD OKAY! Y’ALL READY?”
In the Instagram post Scott posted, she shared a video of her dancing, fan in hand, as Beyoncé sang the famous “Break My Soul” taken from the Renaissance album.
“Thank you so much @beyonce ……. Thousands were lifted. I am one of them. I love you to0000000o,” Scott wrote in her caption. “All that WONDERFUL WORK- Lights, INCREDIBLE DANCERS, SOUND was perfect, MUSICIANS were impeccable, costumes , the 1 thousand + people she employs in every city to build a WORLD.”
