As always, Netflix is keeping subscribers satisfied with endless new content this fall, particularly about sports. October shed light on the lives of NBA icons like Anthony Edwards and Jimmy Butler in Starting 5, but professional fighting is coming to the forefront in November. Ahead of the highly anticipated face-off between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson live on the streamer scheduled for later this month comes The Cage, a docu-series about legendary MMA fighters Georges Saint-Pierre and Jon Jones. The latter hails from New York and is considered the best fighter of all time by many fans. He became the UFC’s youngest world champion ever in 2011, has held the light-heavyweight belt twice and is the UFC heavyweight champion as of November 2024. It’s obvious Jones has skill as a fighter, but viewers of The Cage are curious about his personal life – especially his fiancée, Jessie Moses.

A New York native, Jessie Moses met Jon Jones during their time at Endicott High School. The Sun reports that they began dating in 2005 but broke up soon after; during this split, the MMA all-star began dating another woman who gave him his first child in 2008. He and Moses later reconciled their love and Jones eventually proposed on Easter in 2013. The pair have never married, but have navigated many of life’s ups and downs together while maintaining as much privacy as possible.

They Keep Their Family Out of the Spotlight but Reportedly Have Four Daughters

With his hectic training schedule and celebrity status, Jones is a man on the move. This means Moses and their daughters live in upstate New York while he travels back and forth to New Mexico. In a 2016 conversation with Joe Rogan, The Cage star gave some rare insight into his family life, sharing he has four daughters, one of whom is named Carmen, after his older sister who tragically died of a brain tumor before her 18th birthday. Besides the children he’s already acknowledged, in June 2024, Jones proudly confirmed he earned 50/50 custody of his son, shocking followers who didn’t know he was a boy dad.

Jones Was Arrested for Felony Battery and Domestic Violence in 2021

The biggest public hiccup in Jones’ relationship with Moses came in 2021 when a hotel security desk attendant noticed she was covered in blood while walking through the lobby with one of her children. Moses was reportedly tearing up while expressing fear about going back to the room where her partner was, leading her daughter to ask the employee to call the cops. “[He] touched the back of my head and pulled my hair a little bit but he did not hit me or anything,” she told police when they arrived. Jones allegedly became violent when Moses was “trying to leave the room.”

Officers discovered blood “around her lips, chin and all over her sweatshirt” upon arrival as Moses was bleeding from her nose and mouth. They took note of her nervousness around discussing Jones as she asked how long it would be before he was out of jail after his arrest. Despite all the drama, the New Yorker didn’t want to file a protective order against her co-parent.

As authorities read his Miranda rights, the athlete grew increasingly agitated, threatening to have a “huge lawsuit” filed against police for putting him in handcuffs “on the biggest night of his life.” Hours before, Jones had been inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame, but according to his confessions to police, he and Moses were dealing with “a lot of personal issues” and “arguing about the tension between them.” He told them that he had told his fiancée he was taking $10K and going to a strip club but denied having touched her or pulled her hair.

Based on Moses’ bloody appearance, Jon Jones was arrested for domestic violence. He became cocky with officers and told them “he would like to take us all on and see what we could do.” After making a joke about being able to escape handcuffs, the 37-year-old was given a stern warning to stop resisting or risk being tased; he immediately apologized and complied. At a local holding facility, Jones was charged with misdemeanor battery and a felony charge for violently slamming his head into (and damaging) a police vehicle while calling an officer “a f**king nerd.” He made his $8,000 bond and the domestic violence charge was dropped three months later in a plea deal.

The Couple Appears To Have Reconciled Since

Jones didn’t initially address the altercation with his fiancée publicly, though he eventually revealed on social media that she had left him. “If you are a Jon Jones hater, have a toast,” he wrote at the time. “I feel like s**t.” Despite walking away from her other half following his arrest, 2023 made it clear that the couple managed to reconcile. Moses stood confidently by her man’s side as he was crowned heavyweight champion after a three-year hiatus from his favorite sport.

At the time, Jones defeated French fighter Ciryl Gane in only two minutes and four seconds; this marked his 14th title defense in his weight class. In a post-UFC 258 interview, the East Coast champion let the world know who has his heart. “I want to thank my family, I want to thank my beautiful fiancée Jessie for being my biggest supporter. I love you so much,” he gushed.
