A lot has changed since Jordin Sparks first hit the music scene in 2007. The “American Idol” winner emerged as a powerhouse vocalist during, what some might describe as, a much “simpler” time. Now, more than two decades after Idol’s debut, the landscape of reality TV has undergone a significant metamorphosis with fans being offered having endless options.

“If there’s more shows, there’s definitely a lot of saturation,” Sparks acknowledged. “But I also feel like social media really changed the game.”

With the advent of social media, contestants now navigate a digital realm where their every move is scrutinized and their talents showcased on a global platform.

“We didn’t have people going to follow us to see what we were doing on a day-to-day basis,” Sparks recalls. “We weren’t able to just put music out when we wanted to.”

Sparks sees the changes as a good thing. She’s still optimistic about the abundance of talent waiting to be discovered.

“There’s always gonna be incredible people,” she affirms. “I think finding them and really using your ear to find those people and not just for TV, but the real talent, I think it’s something that we should be more focused on.”

Coming Full Circle

That’s where Spark’s potential return to the show that made her comes in. Her enthusiasm is palpable when the conversation turns to the possibility of her joining “Idol’s” judging panel. Recently Katy Perry announced her departure from the showing, leaving an empty seat available for the taking.

“I see it as a possibility. I think it would be really cool,” she shared. “If they’re going to shake things up, why not bring somebody back that’s done it, that’s been in it, that’s had a great career.”

Sparks’ journey from contestant to potential judge symbolizes a full-circle moment in her career.

“I was asked a lot after I won ‘Idol,’ ‘would you ever be a judge?’ And I was like, no, I just was like, I’m not ready for that,” she recalled. “Now at this point in my career, I just feel like I have a lot to give, I have a lot to say and a lot to share.”

Prioritizing Self-Care As a Mother and Wife

As Sparks contemplates her professional future, she also emphasizes the importance of self-care—a journey that has evolved since the birth of her son.

“You know what’s interesting is [self-care] changed since I’ve had my son,” Sparks reflects. “Before, I didn’t have to really think about anybody else.”

For Sparks, self-care encompasses a variety of practices, from yoga and meditation to spending time in nature.

“For me to be able to just have even 10 minutes outside really can help realign my spirit and the way that I’m feeling,” she shared.

The singer recently undertook a partnership with Unisom, where she highlights the significance of prioritizing rest amidst the demands of motherhood and a thriving career.

“I occasionally need that extra help to be able to give it a rest,” she explained. “It’s been really nice to be able to take those gummies and get a really good night’s rest.”

As Sparks navigates the intersection of reality TV, motherhood, and self-care, her journey has been nothing short of inspirational. With her unwavering commitment to authenticity and empowerment, Jordin Sparks continues to show the world she is here to stay.
