Keke Palmer and Usher are together again, but this time for the music video for his new single “Boyfriend.” Palmer posted a snippet of the video on her Instagram.

She captioned the post with a date, “8.16.”

“Somebody said that your boyfriend’s looking for me,” Usher sang in the teaser with the “Nope” actress as the star.

Shady Lyrics

If the video snippet seems shady, wait until you read the lyrics.

“Somebody said that your boyfriendā€™s looking for me, oh that’s cool, thatā€™s cool/ Well he should know Iā€™m pretty easy to find, just look for me wherever he sees you/ Somebody said that your boyfriendā€™s looking for me, thatā€™s cool (yeah)/ If he could find a way to get in your mind, say he want me, thatā€™s all he got to do.”

The Serenade Drama

The music video is set in Las Vegas. The same place where the “There Goes My Baby” singer serenaded Palmer during a concert.

That impromptu performance led Palmer’s boyfriend and father of her child, Darius Jackson, to criticize the outfit she chose to wear to the show in a tweet.

Despite people coming to Palmer’s defense, Jackson doubled down on his critiques.

“We live in a generation where a man of the family doesn’t want the wife & mother to his kids to showcase booty cheeks to please others & he gets told how much of a hater he is. This is my family & my representation. I have standards & morals to what I believe. I rest my case,” he continued to tweet.

However, Palmer seemed unphased and even monetized Jackson’s phrase. Days after Jackson’s criticism, the host made “I’m a Motha” t-shirts. And to promote her new merchandise, she posted a video singing to their son.

She wrote:

“One thing is certain and one thing is true, IM A MOTHA, through and through! šŸ˜. ‘IM A MOTHA’ and ‘Stevie to the bulls**t’ shirts available NOW! Link in bio :).”
