Lauryn Hill is an iconic songstress and musical visionary. Hill initially hit the music scene as a singer in The Fugees band, releasing hits including “Ready or Not” and “Killing Me Softly With His Song.” In 1998, Hill released her first and only studio album “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.”
From 1996 to 2009, Hill was in a relationship with Rohan Marley. Marley has musical ties himself, as the son of legendary reggae artist Bob Marley. During their union, Hill referred to Marley as her husband, although they were never officially married. The couple welcomed five children together and remain close friends. Zion David Marley
Zion David Marley is Hill’s first child with Rohan Marley. Born in 1997, their son is now 27 years old. Zion is also a father of two, welcoming son Zephaniah Nesta and daughter Azariah Genesis with his longtime partner Tania. Hill’s first solo album, which earned her five Grammy Awards in one night, features the song “To Zion.” It’s one of Hill’s most popular tracks off the album and is dedicated to her eldest son.
Selah Marley
Selah Marley is the eldest daughter of Hill and Rohan. The 26-year-old is a songstress, creative, and model. On the modeling front, Selah has appeared on runways for Chanel, Calvin Klein, Telfar, Pyer Moss, and Kanye West’s Adidas Yeezy line. She often did these modeling gigs while studying at New York University. Her name, Selah, is in the Bible with a special meaning. In the religious text, Selah signifies a pause to think and reflect or a musical interlude.
Joshua Omaru Marley
Joshua Omaru Marley, known professionally as YG Marley, is also the child of Hill and Rohan. This past summer, the artist released his single “Praise Jah In The Moonlight.” The song quickly became a summer anthem, reaching top 20 on the Billboard Global 200 Chart. As of 2024, the single has over 300 billion streams. It also samples Bob Marley & The Wailers’s 1978 single “Crisis.” YG Marley continues to make a mark in music, collaborating with African singer Davido on the 2024 single “Awuke.” Joshua also has three children, posting photos of the babies on his official Instagram in 2023.
John Nesta Marley
John Nesta Marley is the youngest son of Hill and Rohan. Born in 2003, the 21 year old’s career aspirations are unknown. However, in 2019, John posted images of him and his siblings modeling in a Rag & Bone campaign. On his Instagram, the young adult often posts images of his designer outfits.
Sara Marley
Sara Marley is the youngest daughter of Hill and Rohan. The teenager is a budding beauty and light. In 2024, she posted images on her Instagram of her Sweet 16, which followed “The Great Gatsby” theme. According to her official Instagram, she wore a beaded gown by designer Galia Lahav. Sara even joined her mother on tour in 2023.
Micah Hill
At just 13 years, old Micah Hill is Hill’s youngest child. Hill has yet to disclose the identity of Micah’s father, but she confirmed it isn’t Rohan. Micah was born on July 23, 2011. Hill often posts images of all her children on Instagram, including Micah. In 2022, she shared photos of Micah’s basketball-themed birthday party, in which Derrick Rose was in attendance.
“My youngest son Micah turned 11 and was truly moved by his kindness and generosity,” Hill wrote on Instagram. “Our love to you D Rose, to your family and to your team for celebrating Micah with us yesterday.”
