With coverage of Salters’ absence came a new revelation for many, which is that Salters is currently in a long-term committed relationship with Stephanie White. White is a former WNBA player and current head coach of the Indiana Fever. The couple live together in Nashville. They share four children: White’s three biological children and Salters’ adopted child.

White also missed the Fever’s recent game against the Chicago Sky due to the same family emergency. “I really want to win for Steph, she’s going through a tough time with her family right now,” Fever player DeWanna Bonner told the IndyStar. “We want to rally together and get this one for her.” Assistant coach Austin Kelly stepped in and led the Fever to a 79–52 victory, an uplifting moment that showed team solidarity in a difficult time.
