In recent months, we’ve seen a rise in celebrity-owned skincare brands taking over the scope of beauty. From the release of Hailey Bieber’s new skincare line, Rhode, to Kim Kardashian’s skincare line, SKKN by Kim, beauty consumers are starting to face an unprecedented amount of options, and are nevertheless, feeling a bit of that ‘celebrity skincare fatigue.’ “I know that people are so tired of celebrity brands and I’m like, honestly, I get that,” she said in a recent interview with Bustle. “I think that I’m trying to do something very different.”
Aside from an extremely saturated beauty industry, we are also seeing a rise in trademark infringement allegations taking place in the beauty market, most evidently seen in recent days after Kim Kardashian released her own skincare line, SKKN By Kim. Immediately following, Lori Harvey fans took to social media to express their frustration.

Lori Harvey released her skincare line, SKN by Lori Harvey, October 2021. The line consists of a five-step skin care regimen that includes vitamin C serums and a peptide eye complex cream. SKKN by Kim includes a nine-step routine that features a cleanser, toner, exfoliator, and hyaluronic acid serum to name a few.
This Isn’t The First Time Kim Has Faced Trademark Allegations
Kim Kardashian’s SKKN by Kim line isn’t the first time the celebrity has faced fire for trademark infringement allegations. Back in 2019, she launched her shapewear line originally entitled ‘Kimono’ which she eventually changed to Skims. “Kim faced backlash for using the name of the traditional Japanese dress for her products that had nothing to do with Japanese culture or attire,” as reported by Buzzfeed.
Finally I can share with you guys this project that I have been developing for the last year.
I’ve been passionate about this for 15 years.Kimono is my take on shapewear and solutions for women that actually work.

Kim launching her brand skkn by Kim after Lori launched skn by lh is kind of annoying. I’m sure the name was decided on before Lori’s launch but neither party could of picked a more unique name

So Kim K just launched her skin care brand *not suprising* what is to me is the laziness in the brand naming.
Lori Harvey launched her skin care line months ago and it is named
‘SKN by LH’Kim just added one K to hers.
‘SKKN by Kim’ 🤣— Amarachi 🌼🇳🇬 (@thebossamarachi) June 2, 2022
