Meagan Good has been acting since 1995, but most will recognize this actress and model from her roles in “Stomp the Yard,” “Saw V,” or most recently, “Divorce in the Black,” in which she portrays Ava. Though Good has been in the spotlight for nearly 30 years, she’s only recently opened up about her dating history. Being on “Divorce in the Black helped with this change, empowering her to speak about her own experiences. What she’s now shared is a powerful message about how love can be found even after you’ve lost it once before. Meagan Good’s husband, as of March 2025, is not her first. Let’s dig deeper into the actress’s dating history and what it means to find love again.

Finding and Losing Love for the First Time

According to Eurweb, Good met her first husband, producer DeVon Franklin, while filming “Jumping the Broom” in 2011. When they appeared on “Black Love” in 2017, things looked good for the couple. Unfortunately, that couldn’t be further from the truth. The couple divorced in 2022 after ten years together.

When speaking to Shannon Sharpe on the Club Shay Shay podcast, Good shared that she didn’t want her marriage to dissolve like her parents’ had.

“At the time, I was so mad at DeVon, but now I think what he did was brave. To grow where we were supposed to grow, we should’ve been married for that specific time.” She added, “I don’t feel like it was a failure by any means, I just didn’t understand it.”

Later, she doubled down on the split not being a failure on the Jason Lee Show podcast.

“I don’t think either of us failed. If we failed, we failed upwards. I don’t think any time was wasted.”

Finding Love Again in the Strangest Places

TMZ was the first outlet to report that Jonathan Majors and Good were dating back in 2023. The outlet stated that the two had been spotted catching a movie together at the Alamo Drafthouse in L.A. People soon confirmed the report. Good and Majors later told The Hollywood Reporter that they first met at the Ebony Power 100 Gala in 2022 while one entered the bathroom and the other exited.

With a Master’s degree in acting from the Yale School of Drama, Majors is no stranger to the stage and screen. Born in California, the 35-year-old actor got his first onscreen role in “When We Rise” while still studying at Yale. In the series, he portrayed Ken Jones, whom he met during his research for the part.

From there, his career took off. Subsequent roles include “The Last Black Man in San Francisco” and “Da 5 Bloods,” both critically acclaimed dramas that cemented Majors as a name to watch. He went on to snag a role in “Lovecraft Country,” an original HBO series for which his performance was praised. Vogue called Majors “the emotional core of the show.”

As the romance between Good and Majors bloomed, Majors was going through a rocky legal battle. He’d been accused of domestic abuse and charged with misdemeanor counts of assault and harassment. Rolling Stone published a full write-up of numerous accounts of abuse dating back a decade. Majors’ attorney denied all the charges on behalf of his client. Still, two of the women who’d accused Majors of abuse were publicly identified, and, as the New York Times reported, a lawsuit followed.

Despite these allegations, Meagan maintained faith in her relationship with Majors. In a 2025 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Good explained why she stood by Majors for his court appearances.

“Once we were in a relationship, it was like, ‘Hey, this is what’s happening.’ People tend to move out of the way out of concern for their careers or their reputations. To me, that’s not real love. If you know someone and if you believe in someone, it’s not conditional.”

In an interview with People, Good revealed that friends and colleagues tried to discourage the relationship, which held strong thanks to the “instant chemistry” she felt with Majors. The scrutiny hasn’t been easy on Good, but she’s stood firm, stating she’s the happiest she’s been in a long time.

Majors Becomes Meagan Good’s Husband

On March 18th, Jonathan Majors became Meagan Good’s husband. Entertainment Tonight reported the news of their wedding. However, Ebony got wind of the Paris proposal and ring engraving in Hawaii first, fitting, given that they’d first met at an Ebony event.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the couple had a small ceremony in Los Angeles, with Majors’ mother officiating. Majors later told Sherri Shepherd, with tear-brimmed eyes, that the intimate backyard wedding was one of the happiest days of his life.

Despite difficult romantic histories for both Hollywood stars, Meagan Good and Jonathan Majors seem to have found something magical with one another. Their joy and connection are palpable whenever they gush about each other, hopefully spelling a much happier future for both of them.

Moving Forward as a Different Man

Now that he’s Good’s husband, Majors wants to move forward, leaving the past behind him. Speaking with USA Today, the “Magazine Dreams” actor reflected on what he’d been through in the years prior and what he wanted for the future. Throughout the interview, he frequently referenced Meagan not just as his wife or fiancée, but as his friend. He also mentioned his appreciation for the support he’s had from actors like Michael B. Jordan and Matthew McConaughey, whom he’d previously worked with on other projects.

Majors was also candid about his desire for a comeback, saying, “My career and myself were not necessarily on the same level at that time. I had to sacrifice a lot of myself to build the career in the way it was. And now after this two-year hiatus, this two-year self-workshop, I’m working to be in a place.”

A Bundle of Joy in the Future?

Majors already has a daughter from a previous marriage.

Good, who has no children of her own, was initially put off by the idea of having kids because of her own childhood. On House Guest, she admitted that she didn’t have a normal childhood as a child actor. But with her new husband tagging along, she’s a lot more ready to take on the challenge. The “Harlem” actress feels their joy can only be amplified by introducing a child into their lives.

“The way we move I really, really love. And the way we do life I really, really love,” she said.

Her current projected kid-count is two, “but that’s it!” she insisted.

Bringing a child into a household filled with so much love will surely make motherhood a rewarding endeavor for Meagan and her husband. Whether or not kids are next for the pair has yet to be seen, but we’ll be rooting for Meagan Good no matter what comes her way.
