Cowboy Carter created newfound country fans. Of course, there may have been loyal country music fans before Beyoncé, who knew about everyone from Tracy Chapman to Rissi Palmer to K. Michelle’s transition from R&B to country, but others found out by accident. Even if you didn’t know who Candace Mycale “Mickey” Guyton was, the “Black Like Me” singer showing up at the 2023 National Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Washington, D.C. with President Joe Biden and Jill Biden certainly (re-)introduced her to a wider audience. But in the family photo of the Bidens and Guyton’s kid making faces, who was the guy holding her son? That was Mickey Guyton’s husband Grant Joseph Savoy, Esq.
What Does Mickey Guyton’s Husband Grant Savoy Do For a Living?
From his LinkedIn page, Savoy confirms his legal background in civil litigation. The Los Angeles native received his Juris Doctorate from Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles and a bachelor’s degree in Communications from California State University. He was on the Dean’s List and graduated at the top of his class for the latter.
Who is Mickey Guyton’s husband nowadays? The partner of Solouki | Savoy has worked in both the private and government sectors. On the public end, he was a clerk at the Office of the Ventura County Public Defender and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. In the private sector, Savoy worked at the Law Offices of Bruce Margolin, a criminal defense firm.
His additional career experience includes being an attorney for the National Association for the Advancement of Multijurisdiction Practice, a nonprofit for civil rights. Definitely intrigued by helping others, he was an associate attorney with a plaintiff law firm that was fighting for employment wage and hour class and mass actions.
What Does Savoy Do When He’s Not Working?
From a casual glance at photographs of Savoy, this is a man who more than likely has sectioned off a space in his closet for caps. Although he was cap-less when the couple married in 2017 at Kauai Marriott Resort in Kauai, Hawaii, there’s a pretty solid chance that if you see Guyton standing next to a tall man with a cap dipped low and occasional chains, it’s Savoy. At the Kentucky Derby, he showed onlookers how to perfectly match a suit jacket and comfortable pants with a top hat.
Although he’s not a traditional singer, Savoy still takes time to sing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” to his son before bedtime. And as for those funny faces that Guyton’s son made with Biden, there’s one suspect who may have taught him how to do it best.
