Microneedling with PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) is a skincare treatment that uses tiny needles to create controlled micro-injuries on the skin, which in turn stimulate collagen and elastin production. When combined with PRP which is your own blood’s plasma rich in growth factors, the healing process is supercharged, resulting in smoother, brighter, and more youthful-looking skin.

After consulting with Dr. Alexis Parcells of Parcells Plastic Surgery in Millburn, NJ, I committed to three sessions of microneedling with PRP, one session per month over the course of three months. While I’ve always had pretty good skin, I dealt with some mild texture and uneven tone that I couldn’t quite correct with products alone. This treatment changed that.

My Skin Before Microneedling

In these photos, you can see my skin before starting microneedling. While not terrible, I had some noticeable texture, especially on my cheeks and forehead. There were also a few areas of mild discoloration. My skin looked a little dull, and I often found myself relying on makeup to smooth things over and even out my tone.

After My First Session

Right after my first microneedling session, this is what my skin looked like. As you can see in the photos, there’s a lot of redness and irritation. This is totally normal. The skin can appear inflamed and “angry” immediately after the treatment, especially since your provider applies the leftover PRP on your face to soak in all day. It’s not cute, but it’s part of the process. The next day, the redness started to fade, and within a few days I began seeing early signs of that coveted glow.

After Three Sessions of Microneedling

These final photos show my skin after completing all three microneedling sessions. The difference is real: smoother texture, more even tone, and an overall radiance that I hadn’t seen in my skin in years. No makeup, no filters—just glowy, healthy skin that looks like it finally caught up with my skincare goals.
