Missy Misdemeanor Elliot is remembering her longtime friend and collaborator, Magoo, on her social media pages.
In a heartfelt message, the pioneering rapper used clips from her “Beep Me 911” music video and reflected on the first time the two met. She also revealed Magoo was the person who gave her the nickname “Misdemeanor.”
“You supported me from day 1 & you said I’m going to call you Misdemeanor because it’s a crime to have that many talents. So those who don’t know Magoo gave me the name Misdemeanor When we did this song Beep Me 911 & I asked Magoo to get on it & I played this verse over and over & posting this is just heartbreaking I am so lost for words,” she wrote.

Fans and other celebrities flooded the “Lose Control” rapper ‘s comment section under her tribute post with their memories of Magoo and his contribution to music.
“Missy do you understand this was one of my favorite videos #BeepMe911. First of all you were the first to make Barbieland come to life! Second just know Magoo was special. We loved him. We loved the crew. My condolences and rest in Paradise Magoo,” one user wrote.

Magoo’s Contribution to Hip Hop
Melvin “Magoo” Barcliff made up one half of the musical duo Timbaland and Magoo. According to Variety, Timbaland and Magoo teamed up in 1998 and released three albums. The two established a legendary Hip Hop network in Virginia.
Timbaland and Magoo worked with artists like The Neptunes, Clipse, and Elliot. Magoo was only 50 years old.
