When it comes to cosmetic surgical procedures, there’s no limit to the things you can get done. From fat transfers to augmentations and everything in between. If you have a vision, nine times out of ten, it can be accomplished.
The trend that has had patients in a chokehold for decades now, is your traditional Brazilian butt lift. This procedure is achieved by liposuctioning unwanted fat from one part of the body, and transferring that fat to the buttocks. Although it did become popular, reports are showing that the hype is starting to die down. This doesn’t mean that people aren’t looking to transfer their liposuctioned fat anymore. They’re just directing it elsewhere.
The latest trend is fat transfer to the pubic area. The proper name is labia augmentation to fat transfer or labia major fat grafting. This procedure is similar to a Brazilian butt lift. The labia majora is injected with unwanted fat from another area of the body. Unlike a BBL, the labia majora does not need much fat in order for its appearance to change. This procedure leaves the tissue of the labia majora looking smoother and fuller. Those who have a very deflated anatomy may require more than one fat transfer session.
The Growing Trend of Vaginal Rejuvenation
The general idea of cosmetic surgery is to enhance areas of your body that you feel are lacking. It comes as no surprise that once women realized the vagina isn’t off-limits, they chose to take on that project as well. The internet has many versions of what the “perfect vagina” looks like and there are many people who feel they don’t meet the criteria. The vulva comes in all shapes and sizes. There are some labia minora that come out farther than the labia majora. There are some labia majoras that are much larger and plump than the labia minora are enclose the entire vulva. You have every right to want to adjust the look of your vulva and that is what many women have been embracing. Many are starting with fat transfer to the pubic area.
Those who opt for labia majora fat grafting also find themselves tieing in other vaginal rejuvenation procedures. These include but are not limited to laser energy treatments or radiofrequency tightening. Some even undergo a labiaplasty to alter the appearance of their labia minora, while they’re enhancing the labia majora. Some patients also use hyaluronic acid fillers like Restylane, Juvederm, and Perlane to provide temporary enhancements. But it does come with caution as they run a higher risk of rejection.
Ideal Candidate For Labia Majora Fat Transfer
The list of qualifications for this procedure isn’t as long as any other typical fat transfer procedure. Typically if you meet the below characteristics, you are the perfect candidate.
- You are not happy with the size of your labia majora tissue
- You would like to increase the volume of your labia majora tissue
- You are in generally good health
- You want to repair the discomfort caused by the saggy or thin labia
- You have enough donor fat to transfer
It is important to note that labia augmentation with fat transfer is not recommended for those who are seeking treatment for low sex drive or anorgasmia.
Risks And Recovery
Since this procedure is minimally evasive. There aren’t many risks. There are only a few things you have to consider. Some side effects include redness, bruising, swelling, lumps/bumps, asymmetry, infection, numbness, and blood clots.
The recovery time is also not terrible as well. There is typically about one week of recovery time following labia majora fat grafting. Swelling and bruising can resolve within this time. It is suggested to consistently use cool compresses to aid with recovery. Most patients return to work within a few days. The only downside is that patients are advised to avoid sexual activity and strenuous exercise for about six weeks.
