Naomi Campbell has long been an icon in our eyes, but this year at the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Awards she will receive the prestigious Fashion Icon award. And it's about time!

Anyone who's tuned into fashion, the idea of a supermodel or a lover of pop culture is familiar with Campbell, the model who went from being discovered while walking through a mall to the cover of Vogue and walking shows for iconic brands, including Versace.

She's never been afraid to speak her mind or stand up for herself, even up until recently when she said, "I don't give a f**k about fame," and will only work if it helps black people out. Truly iconic.

“It is truly an honor to be recognized by the CFDA with this year’s Fashion Icon Award,” she said, “Being from London, my personal style has always been tremendously influenced by both the dynamic, ever-changing nature of street culture and the music scene. I grew up in this industry and I’m forever grateful to the iconic American fashion designers who have supported me and celebrated me throughout my career.”

Former winners of the Icon award include Beyoncé, Rihanna and Pharrell Williams. Issa Rae will be hosting the awards on June 4, 2018.
