Tennis star, Naomi Osaka revealed Friday that she is expecting a baby girl with boyfriend Cordae. Osaka shared photographs from the couple’s princess themed baby shower on her Instagram account.
Osaka announced her pregnancy on social media in January. She shared a sonogram and a heartfelt message revealing she was expecting.
A Baby Shower Fit for a Princess
Osaka gave fans a glimpse into the shower with a carousel post of photographs. In the first, the mom-to-be wears a casual outfit including a belly baring crop top. She also donned a pair of baggy pants, sneakers and a baseball cap. Behind Osaka, is a backdrop that reads “A Little Princess Is On The Way.” The backdrop was adorned with flowers, mushrooms, and butterflies in a pink and purple color story. But it was Cordae’s outfit, seen in the last picture of the carousel, that really caught the attention of commenters. The rapper wore a Burberry shirt. It’s an outfit choice many associate with Black father’s attending their baby showers.
“Lol it’s Cordae with the Burberry shirt on for me,” one commenter wrote. “The unofficial baby shower uniform.”
Other photographs in the carousel show Osaka squinting into the camera and Cordae kissing her pregnant belly. Celebrities like fellow tennis player Coco Gauff and actresses Marsai Martin and Yara Shahidi left congratulatory comments on the post. Even supermodel Naomi Campbell chimed in with a simple “congratulations” and several heart emojis.
Cordae shared Osaka’s post to his Instagram story accompanied by a #GirlDad.
Osaka’s Career Future
While her most recent post didn’t include a caption, when announcing her pregnancy Osaka touched on what impending motherhood meant for her career.
“One thing I’m looking forward to is for my kid to watch one of my matches and tell someone, ‘that’s my mom, haha,’. 2023 will be a year that’ll be full of lessons for me and I hope I’ll see you guys in the start of the next one cause I’ll be at Aus 2024. Love you all infinitely,” she wrote
Osaka and Cordae
Osaka and Cordae first started dating back in 2018 and were first spotted together at a Lakers game. Cordae, was a member of the collective YBN from 2018-2020 and since gained two Grammy nominations under his belt.
