A Tennessee TV anchor’s sweet engagement to a fellow reporter aired on NBC affiliate WRCB-TV’s Sunday night newscast. Cornelia Nicholson read the news on her teleprompter when she realized the news was a bit unusual. “Coming up right now, we have the story of two young journalists,” she began her report, still oblivious.
Nicholson began to catch on when she read the next line of the report, “Who just so happened to find love in the same industry.”
When Nicholson realized that the “news report” was about her and her partner Riley Nagel, she broke into a nervous laugh.
In a video Nicholson posted on her TikTok, her partner Nagel appears on screen with flowers, before getting on his knees and proposing to her. The video has been watched over 4 million times with almost a million likes. Nicholson told People magazine that, “It’s just so overwhelming and nice to see the support and love from people around the world.”
A Sweet Gesture
The video of Nicholson’s “news proposal” has been well-received by many. She took to her TikTok account to share a thank you message to those “Thank you everyone!!! ❤️ We are so blown away and grateful reading all your comments! I can’t believe I’m engaged to my best friend,” she wrote in the comment of a video she posted on Wednesday. Nicholson revealed that her friends helped plan the surprise proposal, praising them for how well they kept it a secret. Nicholson is well-known on social media for sharing her life as an anchor as well as sharing details about her relationship with her partner Nagel.
