Another fan commented, “The most anticipated female rapper album ever! After 5 long years!!!”
A First In Five Years
Nicki Minaj’s upcoming album will be her first in five years. Her last released work was “Queen” in 2018. The album was well-received by fans and critics alike. Although some criticized the album’s length and alleged lack of thematic cohesion.
“Nicki has spent her career engaged in a battle against being boxed in. The bubbly pop markers that separate her albums from her early mixtapes were evidence of her fear of becoming just another rapper,” a Pitchfork review read. “Queen is the safe and sturdy middle ground. The lyrical barbs are there, but nearly every song is glossy enough to spend some time in the Top 40.”
Still, the album performed fairly well. It peaked at number 2 on U.S. Billboard 200. It project also charted in numerous countries including New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Norway, the United Kingdom and others.
A Steady Stream
Minaj has been releasing music back-to-back since 2021. She released her 2009 mixtape, “Beam Me Up Scotty” in 2021. The project included a new song, “Seeing Green” featuring Drake and Lil Wayne. In 2022, she released “Super Freaky Girl” sampling Rick James.
The record was her third song to hit No. 1 on the Billboard chart. The record also made her the first female solo rapper, since Lauryn Hill, to make it to the top of the charts.
Minaj earned her first No. 1 in 2020 for her collaboration with Doja Cat on the remix of “Say So”. She has another with rapper 6ix9ine for the song “Trollz”. Minaj has also collaborated with emerging artists like Ice Spice, and Sexxy Red.
