NYC content creator, Jae Gurley blatantly revealed that if it wasn’t for TikTok, her identity would cease to exist.

“To say there would be no @JaeGurley without TikTok is an understatement—it goes beyond the username. TikTok has instrumentally changed my life; I can’t imagine a world without it,” she wrote in a 2024 article on Yahoo! Life.

Gurley, who recently shared her identity with millions of followers as a trangender woman, is like a best friend on your phone.

While on TikTok, I befriended so many Black trans women, and this is where I felt most at home. I shared with these women that my community on TikTok keeps referring to me as a “doll’, almost as if they’re waiting for me to transition,” she wrote in the article.

She originally opened up on the platform about being a college student at the prestigious university NYU, before transitioning to full-time content creation.
