Do you have waves, curls, or coils? Can’t seem to find moisturizing products that also define your strands? Then, check out Pardon My Fro. The brand was birthed by Dana Bly in 2010.

A Creative Start

Prior to founding Pardon My Fro, Bly was a self-taught graphic designer. During that time, she found herself creating illustrations of her natural hair journey, the founder mentioned in a press release. As she drew the illustrations, Bly realized there weren’t products on the market that truly uplifted and celebrated those with hair like hers. That realization led to the creation of Pardon My Fro. The hair care line is a part of Walmart’s beauty brand accelerator program. Walmart Start helps small businesses, like Pardon My Fro, gain traction by introducing them to the public.

Growth and Expansion

Since its initial launch, Pardon My Fro currently consists of hair care, clothing, and accessories. During a recent media event, Bly mentioned to the room that all areas of Pardon My Fro are meant to help people feel proud of their hair and their heritage.

Pardon My Fro’s current hair care lineup consists of a hair and scalp oil, leave-in conditioner, hair milk, curl enhancing cream, hair mousse, and hair gel. Each product in the hair care line serves its own purpose. Some soften, others defining and some add shine to the hair. But, one constant across all the products is that they add a level of moisture back into the hair after wearing protective styles.

After you shampoo, condition, and towel dry your hair, grab the Pardon My Fro Hair & Scalp Oil. What makes this mighty bottle of oil so great for curly hair is the unique blend of ingredients. Each bottle contains safflower seed oil, sweet almond oil, jojoba oil, and avocado oil. The nozzle of the bottle allows for the oil to be applied directly on your scalp. To use, separate your hair into sections, squeeze the product into your palms, and then work the oil into your hair.

No matter how you plan to style your hair, once the oil has been applied, make sure to add the Pardon My Fro Detangler Leave-In Conditioner. This creamy leave-in will detangle your hair with ease without weighing down your curls. To apply, separate your hair into small or medium sections and work through the hair one pump at a time. As you go through your routine multiple times you’ll find out how much product to use for your hair. Remember that most products in this line contain moisturizing ingredients so go a little light at first. You don’t want to weigh your hair down.

Next up, is the Pardon My Fro Moisturizing Hair Milk. This product uses a blend of castor, jojoba, and argan kernel oils along with the moisturizing ingredient that is glycerin, to bring life back to the hair. If you tend to have dull curls, waves, or coils, this hair milk will add shine and softness. To apply, keep the hair in the small to medium sections and work a pump through each section. This product is slightly creamier than the leave-in conditioner. If you’re concerned about weighing your hair down, start off with one pump and add a bit extra as you see fit.

Here is where you choose what type of style you’re going for. If your style needs something super moisturizing but defining then stay here to learn more about the Pardon My Fro Curl Enhancing Cream. Otherwise, scroll on down to the mousse. Okay, for those of you still here, let’s get into this. Shea butter is one of the most moisturizing ingredients in found in this cream’s list of ingredients. While this cream does add definition to your curls, if you have hair that doesn’t need a ton of moisture, then this might not be for you. But, if you’re rocking your natural hair after setting it free from a protective style, then grab this cream to pump moisture back into your hair. Then, just watch those strands thrive.

You’ve made it to the Pardon My Fro Hair-Mousse, which can be used for most natural hair styles. Wash-n-go? Add mousse. Twist-out? Add mousse. Wash-twist-take-a-nap-wake-up-and-go? Add this mousse! Since this mousse has a similar oil blend to the brand’s hair oil, you won’t need to worry about your hair turning into solid and crunchy. It pumps out like a foam (think hand wash foam texture) so this mousse calms frizz and adds volume without weighing your hair down. To apply, start by adding a few pumps to each section. Then, set your sections free for any final touches.

Finally, if you love to have your edges laid, then Pardon My Fro Edge Boss Gel is your final step. This clear gel is powerful. When applied it doesn’t feel overly sticky or cause any build up. You’ll reap the benefits of the argan and jojoba oils found in this product. To apply, grab an edge hair tool, toothbrush, or finger tip to lay your edges. Tip: If you are going for a style like a bun or ponytail you can use this gel like a spot treatment to tame any fly-aways or stray hairs that try to pop up.
