While some have a step-by-step skincare routine filled with holy grails, others are exploring options for self-care. The searches for “perfumes for bedtime” and “wearing perfume to bed” have garnered mass attention. Both phrases combined have over 160 million views. Throughout both phrases, online users will find perfume enthusiasts sharing their favorite fragrances to spray before bed.

TikTokers have been spraying different aromas onto their skin, sleepwear, pillows and bedding. This has intrigued audiences, causing them to hop onto the bandwagon. TikTok users, however, are not the only consumers adding this to their nighttime routine. Mona Kattan, founder of the famous fragrance line “KAYALI,” said in an interview with Refinery29 that she also wears perfume to bed at night. 

Many credit wearing perfume to sleep as inspiration from the late Marilyn Monroe. The actress and model previously shared that she wore Chanel N°5 Eau de Parfum to sleep.

Research proves that fragrances are beneficial to the body. Perfume has the ability to improve a person’s wellbeing. It also has been found to help with getting a good night’s rest. A 2021 study showed that scents, such as lavender oil, help with sleep disturbances and anxiety. They also contain other forms of healing properties. 

Fragrances that contain essential oils help with headache relief. In addition to improving sleep quality, perfumes that contain essential oils also provide similar elements to aromatherapy.

There are multiple options on TikTok for bedtime perfumes. A few common ones mentioned for those new to the phenomenon are Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa 62 and Mon Guerlain. Clean Reserve Radiant Nectar and Byredo Mojave Ghost Eau de Parfum also have been fragrances featured within the trend.
