Haley Smith, owner of LoveLeys Hair Salon, understands why mini twists are popular.
“Natural’s like ease, and mini twists are a protective style for your natural hair that you don’t need extensions with,” she told 21Ninety.
According to Smith, deciding what kind of mini twists you want, from volumized, full twists to flat twists, depends on how you prep your hair.
“Some people will blow dry their hair because they want more length, and aren’t for the shrinkage,” she said. “But, if you’re someone who has very thick hair, I find it easier to do it [mini twists] on wet hair because it’s less time.”
