British Vogue tapped Rihanna for the cover of it’s most important issue of the year, September’s Big Fashion Issue.

The issue features Adwoa Aboah amongst other fashion and non-fashion icons. Meanwhile, on the cover, Rihanna dons an extravagantly beautiful flower arrangement on her head, a bold, glossy ombre black and burgundy lip and finishes the look with eyebrows that bring us back to Gwen Stefani circa 2000.

Rihanna dipped into her cosmetics brand, Fenty Beauty, to achieve her look for British Vogue and while it wasn’t her usual face beat, the iconic designer, musician and businesswoman slayed. British Vogue recently hired a new editor-in-chief, Edward Enninful, who had a huge part in styling the 400 pages of fashion that is the September Issue.

Enninful’s is perhaps who we should thank for putting Rihanna on the cover of September’s issue, making her the first black woman to grace the cover of British Vogue’s Big Fashion Issue since the inception of the magazine in 1916, according to Metro UK. (Mmhmm, we know.)

Rihanna posted the cover picture and a few photos on her Instagram and generated lots of love, despite her retrograde eyebrows, which we’re kind of hoping doesn’t make an epic return. Keep scrolling to check out more amazing photos of Rih for the September Issue:
