Serena Williams will be providing a new glimpse into her life and career in her upcoming ESPN documentary. It is titled “Serena Williams: In the Arena.” The documentary takes viewers on an in-depth look into the the sports legend’s story.

“Several of Serena’s most significant Grand Slam tournaments and defining personal milestones are examined and decoded in detail,” an ESPN press release on the documentary noted. “The series juxtaposes Serena’s spectacular on-court achievements and cultural impact with dramatic personal challenges. Through it all, Serena fights to maintain her place atop the tennis world while juggling the transformational experience of starting a family.”

Williams unveiled the new multi-episode project on Tuesday in New York City, while attending the Disney Upfronts. However, she did not share the premiere date for the series. 

Williams took her to Instagram to share her excitement about the project, while with her showing off her baby bump. Her husband also showed her some love in the comment section of the post. He said that he is “so ready” for the documentary’s release.

The doc announcement comes weeks after Williams revealed that she and her husband, Alexis Ohanian, are expecting their second child. Williams and Caroline Currier’s production company Nine Two Six Production, Tom Brady’s 199 Productions and the Religion of Sports will co-produce the series.

This is not Williams first take at a documentary series. In 2018, the tennis star chronicled her pregnancy journey in the HBO series “Being Serena.” It showed her journey having her daughter and finding her way back to the tennis court afterward.
