It’s no secret that Serena Williams is “that girl” on and off the tennis court.

Serena’s September Vogue cover serves as a much-needed reminder of why her legacy will always be remembered.

In her featured story on Vogue, Serena announced her retirement from tennis knowing how it would be received by others, yet still decided what’s best for her and her growing family at this stage in her life.

“Believe me, I never wanted to have to choose between tennis and a family. I don’t think it’s fair. If I were a guy, I wouldn’t be writing this because I’d be out there playing and winning while my wife was doing the physical labor of expanding our family,” she says to Vogue.
“Maybe I’d be more of a Tom Brady if I had that opportunity. Don’t get me wrong: I love being a woman, and I loved every second of being pregnant with Olympia.

Over the past 27 years, we’ve seen a plethora of showstopping looks from Serena that we’re far from basic. She often took an unconventional approach to how she dressed while playing the sport and never sacrifice comfort over style. From wearing a custom Off-White outfit at the French Open in 2019 to her 2022 Women’s Doubles match at the U.S Open on Tuesday night, Serena’s outfits have always been top two and not two.
