The quick and easy answer: probably so.

But what is multi-masking? It’s is the process of applying two different masks that are meant to target your multiple skincare issues at once. We’ve all heard that doing a mask once or twice a week is great for hydration, brightening, acne prevention, etc. But, what we hadn’t really realized was that many of us have multiple skincare issues that need to be handled, and targeting only one issue at a time doesn’t always do the job.

A lavish facial once a month would be perfect, if it was affordable for everyone. But, that’s usually not the case for women. The key to proper multi-masking is understanding what your skin needs and multi-masking is understanding what your skin needs and actually treating it.

How to choose your best masks:

The first step is to figure out what kind of skin you have. Are you a combo, dry or oily skin type? Do you have acne prone skin? Redness? Blemishes? If you feel it’s too hard to figure out on your own, make an appointment with a dermatologist. This will be worth it.

Once you’ve made a note about your skin care needs, you can now scout the best masks. Once you’ve found the best masks for your face, apply each mask sparingly in the necessary zones of your face. Let sit for about 10-15 minutes, once or twice a week.

Here are a few options to get you started.

For the oily part of your skin, you’ll want to consider the following:

Looking into clay masks. They help absorb excess oils and deeply cleanse your oily skin zones. Origins’ Clear Improvement Active Charcoal mask is a great product for doing away with gunk and build up from toxins, sweat and pollution. Another great option: the Coast to Coast Ultra Soothing White Clay Mask.

For the driest part of your skin, you’ll want to quench its thirst:

Focus on an intense, hydrating mask that will boost moisture in the shortest time possible. The Origins Drink Up Intensive mask deeply hydrates skin. The fresh Rose Face Mask (if you’re down to spend a little extra cash), has an interesting gel formula that tones and hydrates your complexion at the same time.

For acne-prone skin, look for masks that have sulfur or salicylic acid in them:

These masks will dig deep into your pores, and clear out impurities. The Formula 10.0.6 Deep Down Detox Ultra Cleansing Mask has been a word of mouth favorite for a while now, while Dr. Dennis Gross Clarifying Colloidal Sulfur mask is a BB approved formula.

For skin that’s dull, look for brightening masks to help reveal that natural glow:

Some women, like myself, don’t really have intense skin issues like acne or blemishes, but their skin does happen to get a little dull. I myself have become obsessed with the Boots Botanic Iconic Clay Mask, which can be found at Target. For women with a bit more money to spend, the GlamGlow SUPERMUD Clearing Treatment is a favorite amongst beauty editors (it’s $69, beware).

For spot treatments, redness and blemishes:

Try the Origins Dr. Andrew Weil Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief Face Mask. Another good home remedy: this Tumeric homemade face mask.
