"Naturally beautiful, radiant, she is black essence, and her beautiful natural hair is her crowning glory. Today's beautiful Queen uses Afro Sheen…"
I know that's right! A lot has changed since this pioneer in the Black hair community's iconic commercials showed us and our hair all the love they deserved. One thing remains the same, though: Afro Sheen is a company dedicated to the beauty and honor of Black women and our crowns. In their latest social campaign, #IDoWhatIDo, the iconic brand will focus on our community's unique style and creativity. Collaborating with Gen Z creators, Afro Sheen will shine a light on those who stand out in their own way.
"Whether fro'd, braided up, or twisted out. Afro Sheen will work with a band of creators to share their personal style stories, with a focus on strengthening advocacy among men and empowered Gen-Z consumers. The campaign urges people of all curls, coils, and kinks to be unapologetically themselves and live the #IDoWhatIDo mantra: "I follow my own wave. I define my own edge. I OWN MY SHINE. I DO WHAT I DO. What do you do?"
The brand does not plan on stopping there. They've also partnered with Black Girl Ventures, a brand that creates access to capital, capacity, and community for Black/Brown women-identifying founders, for The Afro Sheen X Black Girl Ventures pitch competition. This virtual event is designed to uplift women in their entrepreneurial endeavors while providing them with the resources to succeed. The hope for both brands is that this competition will result in new hair care innovators carrying the torch lit by Afro Sheen from the 1970s to the present.
"Participants will deliver their pitches to a panel of high-profile judges as well as supporters across the United States who will be able to tune in, submit votes, and make donations for their favorite contestants. Afro Sheen executive leadership will serve in a hands-on advisory capacity, providing invaluable business guidance including advice on marketing and preparing to enter the retail space."
This seems like a one-of-a-kind experience for any Black women founders looking to break into the haircare industry. Don't miss out on this opportunity. The application deadline is tomorrow, February 26th, at 11:59 pm EST. Best of luck, sis!
