Following YK Osiris’ public apology to Sukihana for forcibly kissing her on television, the rapper has spoken up to say that she forgives him.
Over the weekend, a video of Osiris circulated online of him, Sukihana, and other public figures at the Crew League event in Atlanta. In the video, he came up behind Sukihana, rubbed her bare shoulders, and then attempted to kiss her. The incident led to an uproar on social media, prompting many users to accuse him of sexual abuse. Sukihana also took to her social media accounts to share how uncomfortable she felt.
YK Osiris heard the backlash from users on social media as well as his celebrity colleagues. Meek Mill, Wack 100, Amber Rose, and more spoke out in defense of the “Eating” rapper. All in agreement that this behavior from Osiris was unacceptable. He followed up with an apology.
“I want to publicly offer my sincerest apology to Sukihana. In an attempt to be playful, I misread the moment and violated Sukiahan’s boundaries,” he wrote on Instagram, taking accountability for his actions.
He continued, “I understand the importance of consent and I am embarrassed by my behavior. I take full responsibility and have made multiple attempts to apologize. I have the most admiration for Sukihana and it was never my intention to disrespect.”
Not only has Sukihana accepted the apology, but she shared a message with her followers.
Sukihana’s Response
In her statement, Sukihana made it clear that she was not “excusing or lessening the severity of his actions.”
“He is young. It is my prayer that this experience will cause him and others to be more mindful and respect the personal boundaries of others,” she explained. “I am human, a woman, a mother and daughter before I am an entertainer. No matter what my lyrics express, I still have boundaries and a right to have them.”
She ended by wishing the best for the young rapper. “I am giving YK the grace and forgiveness that I wanted to be given to me as I was discovering and defining myself on this very public and sometimes unforgiving entertainment platform.”
