Rapper Sukihana has stirred up outrage after she posted a video of herself in London making comments many deemed inappropriate. Sukihana, who seemed to have just arrived in London, was heard on a video potsed to her Instagram account making comments about sexual acts as she walked to an awaiting car While she was making the statements, two white women standing nearby seemed undeniably appalled by what they were hearing. The video and Sukihana have since been met with swift criticisms about her open vulgarity.

While the things Sukihana said in her video are unsurprising for the 31-year-old who is known for being unabashedly and openly sexual, many of the people criticizing her raised the point that her actions are a bit too much this time.

“This is so disgraceful. Call me what you like but this type of vulgarity is scary, why isn’t she embarrassed?” one twitter user commented.

Anti-Blackness and White Discomfort

Just as many were calling Sukihana for her public vulgarity, others latched on to the appalled expressions on the faces of the white women who were walking next to Sukihana. The consensus on that side has been that the behavior Sukihana displayed is one of the reasons why white people feel uncomfortable around Black folks. As one Twitter user wrote, “ngl i get why everyone don’t like us.”

That sentiment, however, has been described by many as anti-Black and too subservient to the white gaze. As another user noted, “I find her vulgarity weird, especially when it’s done in public like this. However, those of you chatting about giving white people a reason to be racist or whatever, are the real losers and are far more embarrassing than Suki could ever be.”

“If you don’t agree with what she said then fairs but saying stuff like this is why people look down on black people is wild? Since when have people needed a reason to be anti-black?” someone else commented.

Sukihana is yet to respond or react to the brewing discourse.
