Dancer Ashley Everett feels like a “proud auntie” after seeing Blue Ivy tear up the stage with her mother!

“Oh my gosh, I’m like a proud auntie over here,” Everett told PEOPLE in an interview. “I was [basically] there when she was born.”

Beyoncé is no stranger to putting on a show while performing. But she stunned fans everywhere when she brought out her “mini-me,” Ms. Blue Ivy Carter for the first time on her Renaissance World Tour. And it is safe to say that in each performance since her daughter has stolen the show. Everett says that watching Blue stick all her moves is “surreal.” She told the publication she is exceptionally proud of Blue’s growth on stage.

“I’m just watching her, even from the first show to now, she’s just flourishing already. I’m like, ‘Oh, go, Blue boo!’ She is ahead of all of us,” Everett said.

She recalls when she was dancing for Beyoncé and was called back to return to rehearsals just months after the superstar gave birth.

“We were in rehearsals, doing Revel right after she was born,” said Everett. “Blue was like two months old.”

She remembers seeing Blue Ivy hit childhood milestones.

“I watched her start walking,” says Everett. “I helped teach her some of the first dance moves she ever saw and learned, you know. I’m super proud; couldn’t be more proud.”

Ashley Everett Branches Out on Own

Everett is Beyoncé’s former dance captain and worked with the “Break My Soul” singer for nearly two decades. However, this is the first time Everett will not be performing beside Beyoncé in 17 years. She isn’t sure if she will catch the “Renaissance Tour” and watch Blue perform live, but she is happy to cheer from the sidelines while working on her own projects.

“I’ve always wanted to dive into acting, and I’ve recently signed with a new agency and am doing a lot of commercials and TV now. Also, I love entrepreneurship, building my own brands, and helping others in that. I’m developing my own mentorship program,” Everett said.

And just like with Blue, Everett says she will continue to pass on all the things she’s learned as a dancer to the stars.

“I have some mentees that I work with one-on-one and I really enjoy that type of intimate development,” she said. “I want to open it up to even more people.”
