We are adding another W under Adwoa Aboah’s name as she launches a podcast, The Gurls Talk. Aboah’s online community, Gurls Talk, has successfully created a safe space for young women to discuss issues such as education, mental health, wellness and self-care. The platform just got that much better with the latest addition of the podcast which promises to become “our new regular source of fierce female chat,” according to i-D.

The podcast, which was created with Nike, will be hosted by Aboah herself, with a different guest in attendance each Tuesday. The first episode featured Jorja Smith and some very real conversations about music, body image and online trolls. Following Smith on the lineup was Ramla Ali, a Somalian boxing champion who fled the civil war in Somalia and settled down in England. The podcast featuring Ali discussed how she uses her platform to inspire and encourage other Muslim women to fight.

Aboah has shared intimate parts of herself on social media and on Gurls Talk, including her experience with abortion, an attempted suicide and mental health — she has shown ultimate vulnerability with her followers which led to the creation of the Gurls Talk community.
