Taraji P. Henson is a woman of many talents, but she is also a celebrity who continues to utilize her platform and spotlight for the greater good of the world.
The actress recently teamed up with Planned Parenthood to join the fight for abortion rights, and the platform released a short clip of Henson breaking down the facts that surround the issue.
“Let’s say you know someone who doesn’t see this as a fundamental right. Someone who’s not sure how they feel about abortion,” said Henson. “Just hit them with the facts. Like 80 percent of people want abortion to be safe and legal… So why does a small group of loud, judgy people get to decide what we do with our damn bodies?”
Thank you, @tarajiphenson, for joining us in this fight! We all deserve to make our own decisions about our bodies. It’s time to get loud, share our stories, and say “Bans Off Our Bodies.”

Henson also took the time to share how transparent conversations around abortion should really be had. “Y’all today I’m going to teach you how to talk about abortion because we don’t talk about it enough,” she shared. “Step one: figure out who in your circle needs the 411. Step two: start talking. Sharing abortion info and stories lets us take control and speak our truth.”
Henson encouraged viewers to find out more information and tips via BansOffOurBodies.org.
“If you’re with your girlfriends, there’s a good chance that one of y’all has had an abortion. And we [have to] talk about this,” she said. “There’s way too much shame and stigma around abortion and I’m over it. Real facts. We all deserve to own our own bodies and decide the course of our own lives.”
In light of the recent news surrounding the potential overturning of the Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade, Planned Parenthood has stepped to the forefront of the fight to protect women’s rights over their bodies.
“The court is prepared to end the constitutional right to abortion – and meanwhile, anti-abortion groups and politicians are gearing up for a nationwide ban,” Planned Parenthood stated via Twitter.
“We’re angry and we’re fighting back.”
