The annual MTV Movie and TV Awards show took place Saturday night at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, and while we all tune in to see who walked away with the titles, our favorite part of the star-studded evening in the pageantry witnessed on the red carpet.

Many of the ladies seen throughout the evening sported a low, slick-down ponytail, including Zendaya and hostess Tiffany Haddish. Zendaya’s hair stylist, Ursula Stephen, shared with 21Ninety exactly what she used to keep her hair sleek in the front but showcase her luscious natural curls in the back.
"I began by running a quarter sized amount of Suave Professionals Avocado & Olive Oil Smoothing Leave-In Conditioning Cream throughout her damp hair, followed by a generous spritz of Dove Style+Care Smooth & Shine Heat Protection Spray all over to help smooth the hair and combat frizz while adding a layer of heat protection," Stephen told us. "Once hair was prepped, I parted her hair to the side and began working Oribe Rock Hard Gel from roots to mid length in small sections to ensure each strand was coated before combing it down and behind her ears."
To lock in the slickness, Stephen used her ghd air® hair dryer to blow heat down Zendaya’s hair shaft to ensure it was smooth. While focusing on the back of her hair, Stephen revived the curls with a combination of Dove Style+Care Smooth & Shine Heat Protection Spray, Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Texturizing Hair Cream and Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray. She used the ghd blow dryer again with the diffuser attachment until her ponytail was dry and ready for the night.
"I finished the look by smoothing TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Shine Serum into the part area and a few inches down, followed by a generous amount of TRESemmé Compressed Micro-Mist Hair Spray Hold Level 2: Smooth all over. Once everything was set and dry, I sprayed Alterna Bamboo Smooth Kendi Oil Dry Oil Mist all over for a final boost of shine."
