It’s back to school season and students have been prepping their dorms for the school year. Everyone always wants to make their living quarters feel like home but these HBCU students look like they are on payroll for HGTV. Here are some dorm makeovers that make me want to re-do my college days.

Let’s start off with something calm and simple, but still better than what I ever could’ve done. This Mississippi Valley State University student knew exactly what he was going for! His dorm room transformation is inspired by the staple Tiktok LED light trend. He even took it a step further to add lights behind each of his hats that he hung up on his wall. That’s what we call innovative.

Now let’s take it a step up. My good sis at University of North Carolina Charlotte went all out at Home Goods. From the neon sign to the curtain rod, she said she is all about the lavish life. Another trend we’ve being seeing among Tiktokers is the fake ivy wall decor. This user has added her ivy on just one side of her room as more of an accent wall. We love to see it.

Now this user definitely went ahead and did a “Pimp My Ride,” dorm edition. The addition of an under-the-bed living room in her North Carolina A&T dorm  is something I can’t say I would’ve ever thought of! All I hope is that she passes her dorm room inspections!

Let’s get into the renter friendly makeovers! There are many Tiktokers who promote the idea of having a luxury living space without any permanent damage and this Winston Salem State University student definitely took a page from one of those books. The removable wall paper added an amazing touch to the room, and what’s best is that there will be no evidence that she switched up the room once it’s time to move out!

This one absolutely takes the cake! This Morgan State University dorm room absolutely called me a peasant! From the textured wall paper, to the spotlights, to the self portraits, I just knew that the person in charge of this makeover is an “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” staff member. This may have just inspired me to renovate my apartment.
