The new trend has taken the app by storm. Users are loving the frosted look that gives the illusion that they just came in from the cold, harsh winter weather. The idea is to recreate the vision of having rosy cheeks and larger-than-usual eyes, as you would if you came in from taking a brisk walk in the snow.
One of the best parts about this look is that it fits all skin types. Whether you have textured, dry, or oily skin or even if you have lighter or darker skin tone, you can pull this off!
What Exactly Is Cold Girl Makeup?
TikToker, Zoey Kim Kenealy. is the creator of the trend. Looks from Kylie Jenner, Hailey Bieber and Emily Ratajkowski inspired Kenealy to channel her inner frostbitten hottie. Her tutorial on the look went viral, grabbing the attention from over 2.4 million viewers, and the hashtag #coldgirlmakeup now has over 36.4 million views.
When speaking to Byrdie, Kenealy mentions that she has always been drawn to a flushed look. “Every photo of a girl in cold weather with rosy cheeks gave me all the feels, so I thought I would make a TikTok attempting to create the look,” she recalls. The influencer loves the simplicity of the trend as well. “For one, the look is timely and accessible, making it perfect for beginners.”
How To Achieve The Look
The first step to achieving this look is doing your normal makeup base routine. Once you’ve filled in your eyebrows and added foundation, highlight, and concealer, you’re ready for the next step. Many Tiktokers who have done tutorials on this look make it a point to matte out your base. You can easily do this by setting your face with translucent powder.
The next thing to do is grab your blush. This is one of the staples of the cold girl look. Some influencers start with a cream blush and then cover it with a powder blush. Others tend to skip the cream and go straight to the powder. The best part about this look is that you can achieve it with the products you already have in your makeup bag. If you don’t have cream, don’t worry about it!
You will take your blush and apply it to the highs of the cheeks, on the tip of your nose, and just above the lip. Some even go so far as to suggest placing the blush in non-traditional spots, like the center of your forehead, chin, and nose.
Once you’ve finished giving your face that “pinched” look, time to add the frost. This is where you would pull out your favorite silvery highlight. For most girls of a darker shade, we typically go for a golden look to compliment our brown hues, but for this look, we are going all out frost queen.
Grab your favorite silver shimmer and apply it to your cheekbones, the tip of your nose, and the bridge of your nose. Some choose to even take it to the corners of their eyes but making it a very subtle look.
Finish it off
The last step that isn’t necessarily a requirement is tending to the lips. Some users add a matte pink lip to finish it off and others use a clear gloss. Many Black Tiktokers meet somewhere in the middle with their favorite nude lip/brown lip liner combo. Once they’ve blended that in, they throw some gloss on top and are ready to trick people into thinking they’ve just finished skiing!
Whether you plan to try this look out or send to a friend, it is definitely one that is simple enough for everyone to take a stab at. Who knows, you may even attract your very own snow day bae in the process!
