Tina Knowles is preparing to open the doors to her life story in a way she’s never done before. She has just announced she will be releasing her memoir, “Matriarch.” She is inviting readers into the journey of a woman who has been mother, mentor, and muse to countless people.
Knowles has always been much more than just a mother to the stars. Her influence extends through her legacy of resilience, grace, and creativity, inspiring fans worldwide. Known for her role in Destiny’s Child’s iconic style and her own journey as an entrepreneur and philanthropist, she has carved a unique place in the world. Now, she’s ready to share the lessons, laughter, and heartbreaks that have shaped her life in “Matriarch.”
“I have always been a storyteller, and it’s something I learned from my mother,” Knowles shared in a recent announcement on Instagram. “I am calling this book MATRIARCH because what inspires me is the wisdom that women pass on to each other, generation to generation.”
Tina Knowles’ book will take readers from her Creole roots in Louisiana to her life in Galveston, Texas. It will also journey through pivotal moments like her marriage to Mathew Knowles and raising her daughters in Houston.
Tina Knowles’ Story
“Matriarch” will chronicle Knowles’ life as a story of familial love and overcoming challenges. Her journey from a Texas girl to the mother of two of the most influential women in the entertainment industry is one of determination and at times, heartbreak.
She describes her memoir as an exploration of “the kind of creativity, audacity, and will it takes for a girl from Galveston, Texas, to change the world.”
The memoir will also touch on her role as a guiding presence to many within and outside her family. This would also include Beyoncé’s close friend and “bonus daughter,” Kelly Rowland.
Strength, Wisdom, and “Mama Tea”
Tina’s daughters have publicly expressed their admiration for her decision to write “Matriarch,” with Beyoncé sharing her pride on social media.
In an Instagram post, she wrote, “Mama, I couldn’t be prouder. My love for you goes beyond what I can say. You put your heart into this book. I’m happy for you to share some of the stories that shaped you into who you are.”
But Beyoncé, with humor, also added a playful warning.
“Please don’t spill too much Mama Tea,” she wrote.
With a tone of honesty and humor, Tina acknowledges that her wisdom continues to evolve, even at 70.
“I am still learning valuable lessons—revelations that I wish I would have had at 40 or even 20,” she shared in a separate post.
“Matriarch” will be published by Random House’s One World imprint and is set to release on April 22, 2025.
