The Canadian rapper makes his first appearance in court for the July 2020 shooting involving Megan Thee Stallion.
This Monday, rapper, Tory Lanez appeared in court for jury selection for the case involving Megan Thee Stallion being shot.
Tory Lanez is facing up to 24 years in prison for allegedly shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot on July 2020. He has been under house arrest since this October while he awaits his trial.
In a recent interview on Off The Record with DJ Akademics, he discussed why he has been relatively quiet on the allegations against him.
“The difference between a lot of artists and me is they get so fed up with the ‘Ahh ah!’ And the screaming at them … and the accusation or whatever it is that they’re going through, that they feel the need to express themselves to people who do not know them. There is a time and a place brother when for those people who I do not know and do not owe any explanation, will get an explanation, he said in the interview.
Many took to social media to share their thoughts ahead of the start of the trial.
Tory Lanez can be found innocent due to lack of evidence and I still would believe he shot her. As many of you fatherless men point out, the court of law isn’t always fair and justice does not always prevail. https://t.co/mo3xbHXqLu

If Tory Lanez is guilty, I hope he does time deservingly. If he’s innocent, I hope he climbs the court building and performs his entire discography.

The trial is set to have Megan Three Stallions’ former best friend Kelsey Harris take the stand to testify on the events that transpired during the night of the shooting.
This all happened as Megan Thee Stallion made history by becoming the first Black woman to cover the Forbes Under 30 issue.
