As any boy mom would know, it’s hard to keep your kid “fly.” There’s a constant flow of trends coming and going, making it hard to keep up. However, a hairstyle that seemed to last the test of time are Travis Scott braids. The Texan rapper’s signature braid style has maintained itself as all the rave, a simple yet clean look that keeps the hair both neat and stylish.

The best thing about this protective style is that it can go for any age, from toddlers to teenagers. If your son has been begging for this look or you’ve simply run out of ideas yourself, here’s the easiest way to execute the Travis Scott braids look.

What You’ll Need:

  • Hairbrush or comb
  • Hair ties (preferably small, clear ones)
  • Hair gel or edge control (optional for a smoother look)
  • A water spray bottle (optional)

Step 1: Preparation

1. Wash and condition your son’s hair, then dry it thoroughly.

2. Use a brush or comb to detangle his hair, working from the ends to the roots.

Step 2: Section the Hair

1. Use the comb to create a straight part down the middle of the head from the forehead to the nape of the neck.

2. Depending on how many braids you want (it’s usually 6-8), divide the hair into equal sections on either side of the part.

Step 3: Moisturize (Optional)

1. If desired, spray a little water or apply hair gel/edge control to the sections to make the hair easier to manage and create a neater look.

Step 4: Start Braiding

1. Start with one section of hair. Divide it into three smaller sections for braiding.

2. Begin braiding. As you braid down, keep adding hair from the sides to create a tight and clean braid. Once you reach the ends of the hair, secure the braid with a small hair tie.

Step 5: Repeat

1. Move to the next section and repeat the braiding process until all sections are done.

Step 6: Finishing Touches

1. Make sure all the braids are even and adjust any that need to be tighter or neater.

2. If desired, apply edge control to smooth any flyaways around the hairline.

3. If you used products, you can lightly spray the braids with water or a holding spray to keep them in place.

Remember that practice makes perfect! Braiding can be difficult, so go easy on yourself if it doesn’t come out flawless the first time. The more you do it, the easier it’ll get.
