Lately, I've been on a roll experimenting with DIY beauty products. I love that when making things at home, I know exactly what (and can properly pronounce) everything they contain.

I've been researching and hearing a lot about turmeric, mainly its natural antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial qualities, which can be used to treat a variety of skin ailments. My skin is extremely acne-prone, so I figured that I would be the perfect candidate to give a numeric face mask a go.

This is what I used to make the mask:

  • Ground Turmeric (found at grocery spice aisles and health food stores)
  • Yogurt (plain)
  • Honey (pure, raw)
  • Fruit (lemon, mango or papaya)
  • Milk

The great thing is that many of these items can be found right in your kitchens. I used lemon in my concoction, but you can choose whichever fruit bodes well with you (watch out for allergies). Mix the ingredients all together and there you have it! The results It's bit difficult to tell how well something works in general when only using just once, so I tried it a few times to get a better sense of if it's actually effective on my skin. I will say that I had no breakouts whatsoever when using the mask itself. Immediately visible results were that my skin felt extremely soft to the touch and hydrated. Although time will tell how well it truly helps, it certainly didn't hurt. All in all, I believe adding a DIY mask to your daily or weekly skin care routine will be very beneficial.
