Even with 9.9 million Instagram followers, a Billboard Hot 100 single on a 29-week run and singing Christmas songs alongside singer/songwriter Sabrina Carpenter, South African songstress Tyla still isn’t safe from the internet wondering more about her love life than her music. The “Water” artist’s visit to podcast personality Kai Cenat is one reason for this. After the host asked her out on a date during a live game equivalent of truth or dare, her response — “we’re friends though” — left his face slumped, inviting instigators like comedian Kevin Hart to crack jokes during his own sleepover at Cenat’s home. That one phrase became memes for weeks and the topic of discussion on interviews like The Breakfast Club.

She may have curbed Cenat, but the New Yorker isn’t the only potential flame in Tyla’s life. With the recent release of her single “Breathe Me” (which features @ayyogeo on Instagram, marking the duo’s second collaboration) the 22-year-old’s fans are wondering if she could be getting to know someone new this cuffing season.

From ‘Truth or Dare’ to ‘Breathe Me,’ Geo Keeps Popping up With Tyla

From the piggyback ride to chicken wing snacking and a studio serenade, “Breathe Me” is one of those videos that leaves viewers scrambling to social media to see if this is just business. The same goes for “Truth Or Dare” earlier this year, with Tyla finding lipstick in plain sight in her love interest’s (Geo again) car. But from the looks of 26-year-old Geo’s Instagram page, he’s not showing anyone any particular attention besides the Lakers and Maxwell. (And how can you blame him after the way the cops showed up and Tyla took his car keys? Revenge is sweet.) In real life, neither of the two is posting each other, so this may just be a business relationship with the two enjoying each other’s company outside of work on occasion.

Her Collaboration With Travis Scott on the ‘Water (Remix)’ Also Sparked Rumors

With her “Water” single already being a hit on its own, Tyla invited Travis Scott to be in the remix video. Their visuals were the polar opposite of the music videos with Geo, mainly separated behind what looks like a sheet of ice with Travis Scott occasionally smoking and posing. Without much chemistry in the video, the rumored relationship between the two arrived and quickly dwindled. That could be due to her post about an “injury that has tragically worsened,” causing her to cancel tour dates in North America, the United Kingdom and parts of Europe. Fans were way more interested in seeing the Edenvale native get better soon than speculating about her love life.

Elsewhere, Tyla’s Been Spotted Holding Hands With Afrobeats Icon Rema

Although both videos with Geo were released this year, Tyla still confirmed she “doesn’t really date” on Nyla Simone’s podcast, We Need To Talk. She doubled down on her stance when it came to Nigerian star Rema too. She was asked about being caught holding hands with the Afrobeats musician, which Tyla dismissed as “literally [her] first paparazzi experience.” However, she didn’t seem to be opposed to the idea of dating him, specifically calling him out by name as her preferred king if she’d had the chance to go to a senior prom. Although she considered him a “vibe,” it remains unclear what’s brewing for these two, though music lovers certainly wouldn’t be against a collaboration in the studio if romantic plans don’t pan out.

So far, Tyla hasn’t gone public about any celebrity or non-celebrity relationships. Maybe someday soon her fans will see her in a “dangerous mood” again and find out who “can match [her] timing.”
