“[Music] is still very much a huge part of who I am,” Keri Hilson says. “It’s coming. I don’t know when, but it’s coming. It’s done, it’s ready to go.” 21Ninety sat down with the “Pretty Girl Rock” singer to talk all about her new VH1 movie, being a multi-faceted woman and even teases new music! Take a look below.
Keri Hilson is a woman of many talents and as of late she has taken her talents to the big screen. The singer has been in films such as “Think Like A Man,” and “Don’t Waste Your Pretty” and now she’s back in one of VH1’s Christmas movies, “HipHop Family Christmas Wedding.”
The new film features a line up of all star cast members. Some names in the film include Hilson herself, Ne-Yo, Terrence J, Serayah, Cassie, MC Lyte, Redman, Valarie Pettiford and Shad Moss a.k.a. Bow Wow. In this sequel, Hilson reprises her role as Jessica but this time around is marrying Jayson, played by Ne-Yo. When asked about her on-screen chemistry with Ne-Yo, Hilson says it was easy to work with him but it still felt very weird to kiss a friend. “There’s nothing you can do to prepare to kiss a friend,” she laughed. “We never kissed in my own video, ‘Knock You Down’… It was quite awkward but we got through it.”

She even opened up about wanting to be more than just a musician. She mentioned that it has always been a dream for her to act but she is much more than just the titles that the public has given her. “[I’m a] multi-faceted person,” she proclaimed. “There’s only a few things you know about me, you don’t know about other passions. You don’t know about other things that drive me.”
The singer did open up about new music, however. In the beginning of the year, Hilson did say that she would be making her way back into music. Now towards the end of 2022, the singer has wrapped up traveling for The Millennium Tour and is ready to share new music with the world. “I won’t give a date, it’s pointless to do so. Life happens. Last time I was about to release, my father passed.” Although we still have no specific date yet, she did say it is on the horizon. “At some point next year I could see me putting my project out.”
MTV Entertainment Studios is celebrating the holiday season with six holiday films across VH1, Comedy Central and Paramount Network. You can catch “HipHop Family Christmas Wedding” now playing on VH1 and on Paramount+.
