Beauty trends on TikTok always fluctuate. From “cold girl makeup” to the double lip line trend and everything in between, there is no shortage of tips you can get from the app. The newest trend is the “latte” makeup look and it may just be your new go-to look for the rest of the summer. It has already gotten many other users hooked. The hashtag “lattemakeup” has managed to gain over 20.6 million views on the app.
What Is Latte Makeup?
Rachel Rigler is the woman who coined the latte makeup name. She explained in a TikTok video that the trend is full of neutral, sun-kissed tones. There is no blush or any other colors involved with creating this glowy look. Rigler describes the look as “warm and bronzey, milky and effortless”.
The trend focuses on creating a clean bronze look. Typically, many trends on the app are not as easy to achieve on all skin tones. They usually favor fair skin, but luckily this trend is all about being shiny and golden. It’s a look that Black women can achieve almost naturally. Do it right, and you’ll be outside this summer looking like a walking trophy!
The coffee-inspired look is easy to follow as well. Here are a few items and tips to help you achieve the look!
Get The Latte Look
The first step to the latte look, according to Rigler, is to get the perfect skin tint.
She says it is important to get a skin tint that offers minimal coverage. The TikToker also suggests avoiding the entire center of the face including the nose when applying to best achieve the latte look. According to her, it gives the illusion that you’re not wearing as much makeup as you actually are. The Ami Cole Skin Enhancing Tint is perfect for that “barely there” coverage you’re looking for.
The next step is to give your eyes a base color that is only a few shades darker than your skin tone. This gives the shimmer that goes on top a great foundation to start with. Tarte Cosmetics’ Toasted Eyeshadow Palette has a wide array of shades that are perfect for finding a beautiful brown shade that fits you.
Once you’ve finished applying a base, the next step to the latte look is to get that glowy bronze look on top of the lid. Remember the key is to keep it subtle. Rigler says to keep the shimmer towards the inner corner but feel free to do what makes you happy as long as the look is cohesive!
Sculpt
Once you’ve got your eyes in order, the next step is to sculpt your face. A good concealer can give you a bright pop under your eyes without it looking too unnatural. Keep in mind that this look is supposed to give off a no-makeup vibe! Nars always pulls through with amazing makeup products and their concealer does not fall short. With a variety of shades, the Radiant Creamy Concealer is the best bet for you.
All trophies have chiseled and defined edges, so you must do the same when sculpting the face. The next step is to get a great bronzer to define those jawlines and cheekbones. This adds to the bronze look that the look calls for, making you shine from across the room.
Finish the look with your favorite brown lip liner and lip gloss combination and viola. This latte makeup is sure to turn heads and be a staple of the summer.
