Korean beauty and skincare products have always been lightyears ahead of the rest of the world. We have Korea to thank for sheet masks, foot masks, hair essences, etc; but the latest Korean beauty trend to hit the States are lip powders.

Lip powders are powders, yes, but not in the traditional sense. Upon application, the lip powder becomes creamy and smooth. Lip powders usually result in a shimmery, somewhat metallic look, but they're are matte! They’re super similar to lip stains, meaning they provide long-lasting color.

If you’re really into lipstick (or even if you’re not) lip powders are something fun to try. They provide long-lasting color, they’re convenient (say goodbye to broken and smushed lipsticks), and because of the powder form, you can easily use the lip powder as a blush, too!

However, after watching some reviews, some users commented on the precision of the powder — with certain applicators it can be hard to perfectly line your lips. Although this can easily be fixed with some lip liner, it’s something to keep in mind. Lip powders will also magnify the texture of your lips; if your lips aren’t smooth, moisturized or exfoliated, the dryness of your lips will be exposed.

Since the trend hit the Western world, many brands have followed in the footsteps of the Korean beauty market and have introduced their own lip powder collections. Here are a few brands that have introduced their own lip powders:

Sephora Lip Powder in “Red Hot”

Sephora has introduced a collection of lip powders in six different colors. They retail for $12!

Clinique Pop Lip Shadow Cushion Matte Lip Powder in “Fuschia Pop”

Clinique has also ventured into the world of lip powders with their Pop Lip Matte Lip Powder collection. The collection includes eight colors, which retail for $19.50 each.

Cle Cosmetics Melting Lip Powder in “Desert Rose”

Cle’s Melting Lip Powder was one of the first lip powders to hit the Western market. Their lip powder collection features nine colors, which retail for $19.99 each.

Stellar Stardust Lip Powder Palette in “02”

Stellar has given you not one, but THREE lip powders! There are only two Stellar lip powder palettes on the market, but there are three powders in each palette. The palettes retail for $28, but you could also think of it as each powder retailing for about $9.
