On Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta, Angela Simmons has been vulnerable about her experiences dating while in the public eye, some of which have ended in heartbreak. The 37-year-old is the daughter of Run DMC’s Rev Run and was first introduced to the world in her family’s MTV reality series Run’s House. She’s since gone on to make a name for herself as a shoe designer and businesswoman. While developing her image, the black-haired beauty has been on the search for a partner to match her energy. It’s taken some trial and error (such as failed relationships with Bow Wow and Daniel Jacobs), but her current bond with rapper Yo Gotti seems to be exactly what she’s been looking for.
Rev Run’s Daughter Has Been Linked to Bow Wow and London on da Track
During her earlier years in the spotlight, Simmons was reportedly engaged to Oscar “Skillz” Salinas for a brief period in 2010 before moving onto 106 & Park co-host Bow Wow. There are conflicting reports on the reason for the latter pair’s split; some suggest the rapper wasn’t ready for a serious relationship while others say Simmons’ vow of celibacy threw Bow off.
Regardless, in 2015 the social media star met Sutton Tennyson at a jewelry store, and he proved to play an important role in her life. They announced their engagement in April 2016, at which time news broke that Simmons was pregnant despite wanting to save herself for marriage. Their son, Sutton Jr. was born in Sept. 2016, but the relationship wasn’t meant to last after allegations of cheating. During a 2017 appearance on The Breakfast Club, the new mother confirmed her split from Tennyson, stating, “I’m just going to accept you for who you are. You can’t change people.” Sadly, Simmons’ co-parent was shot and killed outside his house later that year at age 37, leaving her to raise their son alone.
While navigating the grieving process, the socialite kept herself open for new love to enter her life. She and former Chicago Bears linebacker Khalil Mack were spotted on a shopping date in 2018, and there were rumors surrounding her and London on da Track later that year after a photo of them holding hands surfaced. In response, the latter’s baby mama wrote on The Shade Room’s post, “I personally know that’s nothing because we have a whole family but go off,” shutting down the gossip. One person Angela Simmons clearly had strong feelings for was Daniel Jacobs, who was all over her IG in August 2020. Their PDA-filled photos had fans speculating whether they would last, but after just six months they called it quits.

Since 2015, Yo Gotti has been shooting his shot at Simmons. On his “Down in the DM” single, the lyricist famously raps, “And I just followed Angela Simmons / Boy, I got a crush on Angela Simmons / They like, ‘D**n Gotti, you bold’ / F**k it, I’m gon’ let the world know.” It took some patience, but the CMG leader spoke a union with his crush into existence. On New Years Eve leading into 2023, they made their romance official with a classy IG post to commemorate their holiday together.
Since then, the mother of one has appeared in her man’s music videos and served as inspiration for some of his most adoring bars. There were allegations of infidelity flying in late 2023, as Distractify reminds us, which came out around the same time TMZ revealed Simmons owed an estimated $48K in back rent for a New Jersey penthouse.
