Singer and Songwriter Kali Uchis is having a phenomenal year. The “Telepatía” singer received the Rising Star Award at the 2024 Billboard Latin Women in Music in June. Just a few months prior, in March, Uchis gave birth to a baby boy. The singer announced her pregnancy in a music video alongside her partner, rapper, Don Toliver. The couple share their love proudly in public often proclaiming their gratitude for one another on social media. But the two haven’t always been so forthcoming with their relationship status.

Kali Uchis and Don Toliver Took Time Going Public

Rumors began to swirl around whether or not Uchis and Toliver were an item in 2020. However, the couple waited until almost a year later to finally confirm their relationship. They really raised alarms about a potential relationship when Uchis appeared in two Toliver music videos in 2021. Not only did Uchis lend her star power to Toliver’s videos, both were filmed in Colombia where Uchis’ father was born.

Toliver Confirmed the Relationship in an Interview

In an interview with “W Magazine” in 2021, Toliver confirmed that he and Uchis are an item. However, he spoke about their affinity for privacy when doing so. He also revealed that when filming his two videos in Colombia, he was able to meet some of her family members. While Toliver wouldn’t divulge how the two actually met. Uchis finally let fans in on the details in an interview with “Elle.” She revealed that they met through a mutual friend.

The Musical Couple Has Embraced Parenting

After announcing Uchis pregnancy in a joint instagram post in January 2024, the two went on to joyously anticipate their son’s arrival. Now that the baby boy is officially here, Uchis and Toliver regularly share their adoration for him online. In March, Uchis wrote, “Giving birth to you was the greatest day of my life, thank you for choosing us to be your parents. you give us so much strength & motivation to be greater, to be our best selves for You. & we hope every day you feel how loved you are by us; nothing compares.”

A few months later in August, the new mom made it clear that her role as parent is a top priority. Under a post holding her young son she wrote, “verything else can wait.”

It appears that the parents have chosen to keep their son’s name and face hidden for now.

Uchis and Toliver Aren’t Afraid to Show Off their Love

Despite the somewhat private start to their relationship, both Uchis and Toliver regularly proclaim their mutual love on social media. In July, on Uchis’ birthday, Toliver wrote, “My Queens Da …. The Mother Of My Child…. I Love you Soo Much . I’m Happy To spend Another Year Around The World With You. Beyond proud Of you . Momma deserves it all!! Happy Birthday Pook !!!!!!”

Uchis also makes sure to let the world know she loves her man. On Toliver’s birthday Uchis looked to the future writing, “I love you beyond words & pray we live a long life full of joy love happiness & good health.”

Their Relationship Has Led to Some Memorable Collaborations

Along with Uchis being featured in Toliver’s music videos, the two have also appeared on red carpets, on songs and on stage together. In April 2022, Uchis and Toliver attended the Grammy’s together where the singer wore a body hugging neutral corseted dress. Toliver opted for a black suit.

As for musical collaborations, Toliver featured Uchis on his song, “4 Me” in February 2023. Then a month later, the singer featured her boyfriend on her song “Fantasy.” In both musical creations, the couple’s romance spills out through the lyrics. Lines like, “And kisses down my back, starting from my neck. Leaning side to side, emptying my mind,” exemplify the kinetic energy between the musically inclined couple.

It’s not just on wax where the collaborators have joined forces. Uchis and Toliver took the stage together at Coachella 2023. There, Uchis brought Toliver out to perform “Fantasy” live giving fans a front row seat to their steamy love story.

Despite the Love, It’s Not Always Peaches and Cream

But the couple has also kept it real in the past about the hardships that can arise in a relationship. In an interview with “The Breakfast Club,” Toliver was up front about some of the challenges that come along with being in love.

“When you’re in a relationship sometimes it’s not always peaches and cream,” Toliver told the show’s hosts. “Y’all busy. Y’all’s schedules conflict. Y’all might be arguing about the littlest, dumbest things.”

However, Toliver went on to express that he feels more present in his relationship with Uchis than he ever has with anyone before.

“I’m just way more invested in my relationship than I probably have ever been in any other relationship,” he explained.

Will Kali Uchis and Don Toliver Get Married?

Currently, Kali Uchis and Don Toliver are not married. Fans often question the couple about their relationship status and a possible marriage in their Instagram comments. In his interview with “The Breakfast Club,” Toliver responded quickly to a question about marriage being in his future. Without hesitation he told the shows hosts that he sees himself getting married. He even gave some insight into what a proposal might look like.

“I feel like whatever I do it just has to be organic. I can’t really do too, too much. My girl she just kind of wants it to be heartfelt whatever it is,” Toliver explained. “It doesn’t matter if we’re in a park having a picnic. It just kind of gotta feel organic.”

Toliver went on to say that if a couple has been in a relationship for two to three years they should know if marriage is in the cards. Seeing that Toliver and Uchis are nearing that mark, fans very well may be hearing wedding bells in the near future.
