I am learning that self-care is becoming a trend, and everyone is jumping on board.

The reason?

This fast-paced life is just becoming too much, for everyone.

However, waking up at 6 a.m. to make sure you have time to blend a green smoothie before heading out the door while doing positive affirmations as you find yourself stuck in the morning traffic yet again while taking your lunch hour to attend that hot yoga class down the block only to return home to cook a vegan meal beyond your budget might also be too much and exhausting in and of itself. (It's exhausting just thinking about all of that!)

It is during this week of living a series of overwhelming events that I have realized self-care really comes down to doing less and feeling more.

We are so busy doing that we forget to be: Be happy, be relaxed, be in alignment.

When was the last time you listened to silence? Or even more importantly, yourself?

When was the last time you permitted yourself blank space in that agenda you carry everywhere just in case something comes up?

When is the last time you told yourself, "There is one thing today on my to-do list, and that is to do whatever my body and mind desires and needs from me at this present moment?"

And for the people who feel like they should be doing something all the time, I want to reassure you that relaxing is doing something; it's re-energizing.

Something tells me you know how much you've been needing this. You might be a master at committing to everyone and everything else, which is just a reason to start committing to yourself and your well-being — by doing less and feeling more.
