So we’re two years into a pandemic, a life we once knew is no longer and we’re all just trying to see it through another day without losing our sanity. Navigating the past two years has been no easy feat, and just know that if you’re going through a tough time right now, you’re not alone. Before we dive straight in a few ways you can make this difficult time a bit easier, it’s important to give yourself grace and compassion for even making it this far.

Practice mindfulness

Practicing mindfulness means remaining in the present moment without worrying about the past or the future. Focus on just being and remaining still. Sometimes we need to just sit down with ourselves without external distractions. Staying in the present can help you limit worry and stress about what’s going to happen in the future. Just remember that the past and the future are illusions. Take control of the now in the ways you can and release societal burdens and expectations.

Remain grateful for all that you do have

Gratitude is one of the best ways we can bring more blessings into our lives. Being thankful for all of the things that are currently going right is a great way to control what you can control, despite all that’s going on around you.

Prioritize Rest

Society has constantly taught us that we need to be “on the go” all the time, and for once, not being on the go is actually starting to become normalized. Rest is so important for our overall mental and physical health. If we’re constantly giving back to other people without replenishing our own cups first, then we can oftentimes feel like we’re running on E. It’s okay to give your body rest whenever you feel like you need it.

Try getting fresh air at least once a day

Getting fresh air is so critical to our well-being. If you’re constantly on your laptop and working from home during this time, fresh air can keep you motivated to help you continue through all of the tasks that are constantly requiring your attention.

Stay in touch with friends and family

Staying in touch with your loved ones is so vital if you’re feeling lonely or isolated. We may sometimes want to isolate ourselves from the world around us, however, this can damage the way we may see and react to others that care for us. It’s okay to isolate yourself every now and then, but try not to cut yourself off from the people that genuinely love you.

Talk to a trusted professional

Talking about your feelings is one of the best ways to get through uncomfortable emotions. Seeking out and talking to a trusted professional can help you better identify your triggers while helping you remain optimistic about life and all that’s to come.

Sit down with yourself and work through difficult emotions

Sitting down with yourself can be difficult at times, though it’s important that you can use this time as a gateway to continue getting to know yourself. Listen to your favorite playlist, set that self-love bubble bath, or binge-watch your favorite series. Whatever helps you feel your best in low times are great ways to help you get through them.

Take frequent breaks from social media

Social media can be a monster if we give it that power. Seeing others “live their best lives” right now is merely an illusion. Don’t fall for the facade social media plays because it’s really not a reality. Everyone's lives have drastically changed as a result of the pandemic- and if they try to convince you otherwise, it's probably not the truth.

If social media is hard to break free from, try setting an intention for what you’re seeking from it, whether it’s for work or simply just looking for inspiration, setting intentions can help you prioritize the things in life that actually matter.

Sending virtual hugs to everyone that needs it. You'll get through this time, and when you do you'll be so grateful for the lessons you've learned so far.
