Yung Miami has become the it-girl that everyone talks about, in a rather quick timeframe. As 1/2 of the rap duo, City Girls, she has been in the public eye for a while. But now that she has branched off onto her own path, everyone is intrigued to know more about exactly who Caresha Brownlee is.

The “Act Up” rapper has had a full and diverse career so far. Yung Miami carried the rap act on her own while her other half, J.T., was behind bars for more than a year. This was immediately after Drake featured them on his song “In My Feelings.”. Yung Miami then went on to have her second child, Summer, and tackle motherhood while in the limelight. Around that same time, the mother of two began to open up a bit more on social media, do more interviews and let people see her personality. Then her relationship with Diddy became public and she started her own podcast “Caresha Please.” She’s founded a brand under the same name of the show, and started acting in major projects.

In an interview with The Cut, the Miami-bred rapper opened about her personal life to give fans a more intimate look at who she is.

Learning About Yung Miami

Miami knows what she wants and has all the plans to get it.

“I want everything: to be an actor, an artist, and an entrepreneur. It’s just my work ethic that’s gonna determine my success,” she said to The Cut.

Although Yung Miami is driven, she says she never knew she was going to be famous. In fact, she and J.T. started rapping on a whim.

“We’ve been childhood friends since middle school. We never planned on doing anything together,” she recalled. “One day she called me: Let’s make a song. We were just playing around and it blew up. But we never planned to be artists or rappers or a rap group,” Miami rememered.

Her rise to fame has not been an easy one. In June 2020, the father of Yung Miami’s son was shot and killed. Although she was not romantically involved, his death took a toll on her. The young mother mentions that she was able to keep her mind off of actually feeling it, but when she played a role in Starz’s “BMF” she was reminded of the incident,

“It was hard for me because the BMF scene, it was so emotional — like my [character’s] husband got killed and, in real life, my baby father got killed. I always say I never got a chance to go through the emotion of my baby father getting killed and feel he’s gone because I was always working,” she said in the The Cut.

She added, “I thank God I was able to keep working because I’ve got kids. I felt it, of course, but I didn’t have a breakdown until after the fact. When I did break down, it was bad. It was horrible.”

Love Life and Beyond

Eventually, Yung Miami met music mogul, Diddy, who believed in her and saw her potential. She has shared on several occasions that they are single but together and they simply love to have fun. In the The Cut interview, Miami confirms the two have parted ways but are “still good friends.”

Diddy gave the rapper a platform to shine. She recalls that she did an interview with Justin LaBoy, which Diddy sat in on. Afterward, he had a vision for her “I think you should do a podcast. You’re good at it. You’ve got a strong personality.” The “Caresha Please” podcast was then born.

One topic that everyone can’t seem to get over is her conversations about sex on the podcast. More specifically, her comments on liking golden showers and if she did that with Diddy.

“I never said he was the one I did that with. Sex is a part of life. I’m grown, and maybe I talk about it too much, but everybody’s got their personal experiences,” she said.

Yung Miami is looking forward to growing. Her career’s trajectory thus far has proven that she is one to watch out for.

“I hope Caresha Please will be like Fenty,” Yung Miami said. “I hope we just prosper.”
