It’s scary to think I’m already halfway through my twenties. It still seems like it was just yesterday that I was leaving my teenage years of thin eyebrows and overly styled hair behind and starting a new chapter in life.

With all of this newfound beauty knowledge under my belt, I have learned a lot along the way. The topic of beauty is something I’ve always been passionate about, and it’s something I love writing about. In my mid-twenties, I’ve been able to learn so much, thanks to the internet and through experimentation.

Beauty tips come and go, but here are some things that we should always remember:

1. Wearing a full face of makeup does not instantly mean you’re shallow or vain

That goes both ways. If you want to sport a natural look, do you sis! No one’s judging you.

2. Fake it ‘til you make it

If you don’t know anything about makeup, learn. But until you’ve mastered it, own the skin you are in.

3. You don't have to hop on the bandwagon of every popular beauty trend

(Squiggly eyebrows are so 2017)

4. Inner beauty is a kind of radiance no makeup can provide

5. Skincare doesn’t have to be overly complicated and detailed

Find a skin routine that works for you and stick with that.

6. Makeup trends come and go, but a base routine lasts forever

7. Difficult makeup techniques always get more comfortable with practice

8. Don’t be afraid to ask for some help

An honest friend or even that sales associate at Sephora can help you match your foundation accurately.

9. All natural, vegan-friendly makeup products can do amazing things for your skin and the environment

10. Brand names don’t always mean high quality, so make sure you rotate in some local indie brands

11. It’s still better to invest in a few quality products rather than buy a bunch of cheaper ones, because it’s better for your skin overall

12. It’s always okay to play with makeup for fun

You are wearing it for you, not anyone else!

13. Choose quality over convenience and cost when it comes to both skincare and makeup

14. You’re never too old to wear a specific color

15. Never, ever over pluck your eyebrows

Always opt for professional threading or waxing to keep those brows on point.

16. Nothing can make you feel more confident than putting on your favorite lipstick

17. And remember, beauty rules are meant to be broken – so relax, makeup is supposed to be fun!
