So, how do we define "success" anyway? It’s a great question, and honestly, one that only we can answer for ourselves.

Ultimately, we decide our goals. We are the ones that make our dreams come true, and this gives us the power to be successful. It's entirely in our hands.

I don't know everything about success, not in the slightest. But, what I have learned I'm happy to share.

Here are my top 5 secrets for success:

1. Positivity is a powerful force to be reckoned with

Being positive about your ideas is hard sometimes. I know many people who never actually do anything because they think all of their ideas will be criticized.

The world is filled with critics and nay-sayers. However, it's those who choose to be creators who stand out beautifully. Also – and this one might be hard to admit to yourself –  but aim to surround yourself with people who build you up. Having a negative person around can make it difficult to achieve your goals.

2. Make realistic *AND* brave goals

The formula's simple: if you don't have goals, you won't accomplish anything. Those things that scare you a little, focus on those! Attempting the impossible over and over again is good practice. You won't win every time, but like most things you practice, you will learn and grow. In time, and dedication, you’ll experience more success.

3. Don't wait for perfection

It can be hard to finally let your idea out into the world. We all tend to keep refining things, wanting to make them perfect before we show anyone, especially the ones closest to us. Sometimes you need to create a deadline for yourself and just hit submit, even if the result is less than perfect.

4. Start now

This one I am guilty of. I think, "Oh, I'll just wait until tomorrow to do XYZ.” I always used to think, everything tomorrow and never today. And that's an excellent way to get nothing accomplished.

Start today. Make a goal, create a plan to achieve it, then immediately start taking steps to complete it.

5. If necessary, fail and learn from it

You know the saying "Quitters never win"? Well, believe it or not, it is ok to fail. My life is full of endless chances to quit, and you know what, sometimes I do. I'm strong in certain areas and weak in others, and to be successful, you have to take a look at all of your strengths and weaknesses.

When you do find success, first off, celebrate (you did it sis!). Then, think about why it worked and expand on that.

If necessary, quit. Sometimes things don't work, and that’s ok. Quitting has nothing to do with self-worth. You are more valuable than your current accomplishments, and you always will be.

No matter where you are at in your journey right now, hear this: you are fantastic. You are original. You have great ideas. And you can entirely achieve your dreams. Never be afraid to dream big.
