Aside from Ashanti being one of the best R&B singers to date, she’s proving that she has more than just lyrics to bring to the table. 

The 41-year-old has recently just become the first Black female artist to co-own a Web3 company according to BET.

The singer is partnering with a woman-owned company called EQ Exchange. The company’s main objective is to connect artists with ownership rights over their intellectual property. EQ Exchange’s objective is to also help artists connect more directly with their target audiences.  

“I’m so ecstatic to be the First Black female Artist to be a partner and co-owner of such an Amazing Web3 tech company as EQ Exchange. Focusing on music and NFTs, EQ is built on CELO, the world’s first carbon-negative blockchain.” Said Ashanti on Instagram. 

Web3 companies are platforms that offer users the chance to become shareholders of decentralized data. A few of the most known Web3 companies are Crypto.com, Binance, and  Coinbase to name a few. 

According to BET, The New York native revealed last year that she was in the process of recording a self-titled debut album so that she can gain complete ownership over her work. 

The Web3 brand expressed their excitement over the collaboration on Twitter stating, “ EQ Exchange would like to officially welcome @Ashanti to the family! As a grammy- award-winning, multi-platinum music veteran she is the first Black woman owner of a music NFT company. We’re grateful to be on this journey with her. #Ashanti #AshantixEQ #AshantixEQExchange”  

Ashanti and EQExchange are bringing a more personalized experience to her fans which involves more music and gifts.
