Houston is a hub of culture and talent, especially when it comes to empowering Black women who’ve made a significant impact on the world stage. As the city gears up to host AfroTech 2024 on Nov. 13 to Nov. 16, it’s the perfect moment to celebrate some of Houston’s most iconic women.

AfroTech, one of the largest Black tech conferences, will bring thousands of innovators, entrepreneurs and professionals together for knowledge sharing, networking and a celebration of Black excellence. Here are five Black celebrity women from Houston who have made waves in their industries and continue to inspire the world.

Beyoncé

No discussion of Houston would be complete without mentioning Beyoncé. The international superstar and Houston’s very own has redefined music, fashion and performance art. Growing up in Houston’s Third Ward, she has never hesitated to give back to her community. Megan Thee Stallion

The recent Texas Southern University graduate’s commitment to education and her community, reflects in her personal and professional growth, as she never misses a chance to give back. Whether it’s her advocacy for mental health or body positivity, she remains deeply connected to her Houston roots and continues to uplift others through her work.

LeToya Luckett
